Life-teen update (03-25-2007)

Another week done and gone, another student tortured, and another WASL taken. Hopefully the WASL didn’t do to much damage to any of you. If there is one thing I hate in this world it is standardized testing. Maybe this is because I have never been much of a test taker. As promised, I have been keeping all of you and your exams in my prayers this past week. I even prayed for the intercession of St. Joseph of Cupertino, the patron Saint of test takers. St. Joseph was not really a bright kid and had very difficult life. He wanted to enter the Franciscan order, but was so poor at his studies that no one thought he had a chance. When it came time for his exam he was only able to remember one thing from all of his studies, and it was the one thing he was asked. He also experienced visions and levitation. Because he was unable to control these visions he earned the nickname “The Gaper.” Not everyone was impressed with St. Joseph’s visions and levitations, including the pope and various bishops. This led to him being forced to live in exile for many years and undergoing examination by the inquisition. Throughout it all he always trusted in God. Even though he was classed as uneducated, he was often able to answer complex and difficult questions. So may The Gaper pray for you during your exams and God’s will be done.
On a brief side note, I have something to distract you from your WASL studies. I know your parents, teachers, and future college recruiters won’t appreciate my efforts to distract you, but I am going to plunge ahead none the less. Fear not my friends, it will be a very brief distraction and then you can return to memorizing biology facts or something along those lines. One word: Zombies. Zombies, you ask yourself? Yes, zombies. A friend of mine sent me a link to a You Tube video called Hunting with Father Fearless. I encourage you to take a brief brake and check it out. It was done by a Christian film school in North Carolina that is just getting off the ground. I laughed, and you might too.
