Life-teen update (11-26-2006)
By the time most of you are reading this you will have finished at least one Thanksgiving dinner (I plan on eating at least two), watched a football game or two, and once again wondered what the name of the chemical is in turkey the makes you want to fall asleep. I personally think that it is a great defense mechanism gone wrong. The turkey needs to find some way to make predators fall asleep before he gets eaten, not after he is already been turned into dinner, but enough about turkeys and there mortal, non-rational souls. This past week I attended the diocesan youth convention down in Kennewick. I spent a good portion of the drive down to the Tri-Cities crying because none of you wanted to come with me. I got lost while trying to find the church where the youth convention was being held. Just as things were beginning to look hopeless for our hero, he saw a sign from the heavens. There on the horizon was a Chinese super buffet, and right next to it was a Christian bookstore. The Super buffet lived up to its name and provided sustenance to continue the journey and the Christian bookstore provided directions, so our hero was no longer lost. After finally finding my way to the convention I was able to attend a workshop on how to live out your Catholic faith in the modern world. It was an excellent workshop that I think all of you would have enjoyed. Also during this weekend I found out about The Episcopal Church saying that it was merciful to starve babies to death or withhold medical treatment if they were born disabled or prematurely. The main point of the workshop on living out our Catholic faith was that in order to live out our faith, we first have to know and understand it. This is where coming to youth group, confirmation class, etc. come into play. Having now descended from my soap box, I hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving holiday. Remember that there is no youth group this week for either the high school or the middle school. There is also no Confirmation class this week, so sleep in and recover from all the shopping that may or may not have occurred on Friday. God bless.
